What’s the good news?

After SO MUCH WORK we finally have a Sunshine/CMS contract sitting in front of us!

What’s the bad news?

The contract is currently offering a 35% DECREASE in reimbursement for music therapy sessions, and will cost FMT money for each and every Sunshine/CMS session. When Courtney tried to negotiate to bring the reimbursement to FMT’s cost of service, she was told it makes the company look money hungry…

This contract is also cutting out all Telehealth and in-school/facility sessions, which makes music therapy less accessible to those who may live too far for a studio or in-home session, those who may have transportation difficulties, or those who may have medical needs. Why should this be important to you? We used Telehealth A TON during the COVID pandemic, can help keep consistency if someone in the house is sick or out of town, and in-school/facility sessions keep music therapy EXTREMELY accessible!


What’s the big ask?

We are asking EVERY adult with a Sunshine/CMS kiddo to reach out to their caseworkers and advocate for music therapy, an equitable payment for sessions, and accessibility to everyone. Tell your case manager about how important music therapy is to your child and your family and how you would be impacted if we are not able to continue with the contract as it is currently offered.
